About my Rich Girls Blog community
Why did I start 'The Rich Girls' and where is it leading me? These questions have been on my mind lately as running a blog community takes considerable effort and energy without necessarily generating income, especially when you're uncertain about your goals.
Making Dreams Come True
It all began when a friend dreamed of becoming a writer, but was hesitant to pursue it. I decided to help her by initiating a low-stakes project titled, 'The Rich Girls'. We started with zero readers, making the blog a safe place to practice writing and maintain a low profile. Gradually, we started enjoying it, attracting readers who felt the same. We wrote about frugality, feeling rich with less money, and the sharing economy. We also interviewed inspiring entrepreneurs about their life and wealth, dreaming to become inspiring entrepreneurs ourselves one day.
Growing and Learning
The more readers we gained, the more pressure we felt to consistently produce captivating content. This also increased our stress levels and revealed our differing perspectives. While I was driven by my ambition and the goal to turn it into a serious business, my friend wished to occasionally write fun blogs. Her motivation was love for writing, not necessarily growth. This dichotomy strained our collaboration and friendship. It taught me the importance of not projecting my dreams onto others and to respect each person's unique path and pace.
The Power of Perspective
I realized I often help people actualize their dreams, only to run away with them due to my boundless enthusiasm and ambition. I am always full of ideas and plans for others, which leads to disappointment when they don't pursue them as passionately as I would. However, it is not for lack of goodwill. I see immense talent in people and believe in their potential if they fully utilize it.
Unlock Your Potential
It frustrates me when people do not give 1000%. When fear and lack of self-confidence and courage keep them from doing what they love. Follow your heart! I want to shake them and say, "Do you realize how amazing you are, how much you can offer the world? Do you realize how inspiring, funny, unique, wise, and fascinating you are? Do you know how rich you are? Look in the mirror and hopefully, you'll see what I see."
I started as a portrait photographer to show others how I see them, how beautiful they are, even when they don't meet all beauty standards.
However, I also know how to distance myself from my thoughts, laugh at my behavior, and learn from my mistakes. It's not my place to push people to their limits. They have to do and dare it themselves.
Life is Short
But if you have a dream and you know what you have to offer the world, please, go for it! Life is short. Hopefully, you don't have to become chronically ill (like me) to realize that life needs to be lived now, not when you think you're ready or brave enough.
Start Somewhere I recently had a productive brainstorming session with two entrepreneurs looking to transform their business. It can feel like you're standing still and unsure of the direction. I advised them to start moving slowly, as it's easier to accelerate from a slow pace than from a standstill.
Therefore, I will continue with 'The Rich Girls'. Because with 'The Rich Girls', I want to make you aware that feeling rich has little to do with your bank balance and everything to do with the wealth within you, with which you can enrich the world.
